Xbox LIVE Is Still Down!!! Customers Want... →
Xbox LIVE has been messed up for the better part of a week. MS hasn’t be very willing to acknowledge the issues. I want to know two things…when is it going to be fixed and how is Microsoft going to keep me as a customer?

iPhone Firmware 1.1.3 Imminent: Breaks Unlock,... →
I’m sure by now everyone with an iPhone has seen and is equally excited about the latest firmware update for Apple’s iconic shiny phone. When videos of the update running on a live phone surfaced (hat tip TUAW) this weekend I was a bit skeptical, but it appears this update is legit. Killer new features will include: saving pinned locations in Google Maps, location triangulation via cell tower...

Eject a stubborn .dmg →
I’ve run into the odd time that Finder will refuse to eject a .dmg file. I found that you can force an eject using the terminal using the following command: hdiutil detatch ImageName For the ImageName part, it’s easy enough to type the first letter and then hit tab to auto-complete the dmg name.

My (not so very) Messy Life →
I’ve decided that for now my involvement with the memes will be more about using the prompts to spark ideas and “riffing” on them as Tiv would say, and less about the social aspect of it, because all that commenting on what ends up being random blogs is much too time consuming and I’ve hardly had time to visit all the wonderful friends and readers who come here because they like having

FlickrFinder →
Filed under: Internet Tools I love Flickr, Yahoo’s photo sharing site, and I find myself posting every picture I take on it. Today I decided to whip up a blog post (for my personal blog) highlighting my favorite pictures of the year in my Flickrstream. I first tried looking over my pictures on Flickr itself, but it soon became clear that a desktop client would make this task much more...

Yeah, you thought the Optimus Maximus was the holy grail of keyboarding — then you saw the Optimus Tactus, a giant touch sensor display tablet keyboard that could do all the sorts of crazy stuff the Maximus can’t even touch, like playing movies and being a gigantic color swatch.

Aperture: Recover Images With File Juicer →
File Juicer is a small Mac OS X application that extracts images, movies, text, and other useful data from practically anything. It’s useful to Aperture users in two important ways: it can recover usable images from the library if the masters are lost and and can scrounge deleted images from memory cards. One of the hazards of working with referenced image masters is that their management...

Mailplane: Gmail on your Desktop →
Although Apple’s Mail.app seems to be a big selling point for Leopard, I’ve never really been fully sold on computer-based e-mail clients. There are just so many good online options that offer more storage, more features, and to me, a greater ease of use. I’m a big fan of Gmail, Google’s excellent free e-mail service, however, using Gmail through Mail.app seems to me a little clunky and not as...

Make This Startup: HD Video Serving Service →
Here I am, the night before Christmas, thinking about what I’m going to do with the high-definition camcorder I bought myself. Naturally, I am going to use it to share some HD video on this site to spice up reviews and so on. The problem lies in how to get that large amount of content from the server to your display. Of course there are tons of video sharing and hosting services out there but...

I got an email from Nike’s ad agency back in November. After many more emails, quite a few calls, a demo video, film scouting and then a day of shooting, I became the star of my own Nike+ conversional ad. Peter Landesman has written a fascinating article for L.A. Weekly on street gangs. The events he details are chilling. I can’t say I agree with some of the broader claims of the piece, however. One of the most problematic things that I run into when blogging is resizing images. Especially when there are posts with lots of application icons, resizing all of them is a big hassle. People who don’t follow Loren Feldman are usually surprised when he takes aim at their startup and lets loose. Quite often they also cross the line and could be called offensive. Today Feldman went...

The fact that I bought my PlayStation 3 back in August and have only owned a total of 2 games in that time is a little unsettling.
